Morpho-sedimentology and 3D tidal currents of the Saint-Nazaire laid wind zone

Description

SHOM, a public institution of reference in terms of hydrography and marine sediments, has been subsidized by Europe, the representation of the State in the Pays de la Loire region (SGAR) and the Pays de la Loire region to acquire initial knowledge of the physical marine environment on the Saint-Nazaire wind zone. This operation has made it possible to: - acquire morpho-sedimentary knowledge of the area off Saint-Nazaire (Banc de Guérande), selected following the consultation conducted since 2009 to host offshore wind power generation installations; - finely model the tidal currents in three dimensions (3D) on a right-of-way corresponding to the coastline of the Pays-de-la-Loire region, including the Loire estuary in its maritime part and up to the limit of the upwelling of the tidal wave. The available data consist of: - a high-resolution bathymetric digital terrain model; - a large-scale map of the nature of the surface sediments and a large-scale map of the thickness of the sediments above the bedrock; - a current product of 3D tides (speed and direction of current for 3 depth levels: bottom, mid-depth and surface. The operation is co-financed by the European Union. Europe is committed to the Pays de la Loire with the European Regional Development Fund.
