Regionally valuable landscape areas in Pirkanmaa 2013
Description
The data contain inventories of regionally valuable landscape areas in Pirkanmaa. The inventory was carried out in connection with the preparation of the Pirkanmaa regional plan 2040. The survey was carried out by the Pirkanmaa Regional Council and the inventory was carried out by ProAgria Southern Finland. The survey report’s inventory forms and the appendix map show the nature values of the landscape area, the age of the building stock and land use.
The aim of the inventory was to comprehensively map out the typical and characteristic features of the region of Pirkanmaa. Valuable landscapes are homogeneous, large area, intact and harmonious landscapes and often varying areas. The landscape areas reflect the region’s specialty and tell about the region’s cultural and natural history.
In the inventory of regional landscape areas, the range of areas, value class and demarcation were revised to correspond to the reformed implementation and control systems for landscape management. The inventories focused on rural cultural landscapes, especially agricultural landscapes and other landscapes created by primary production. The cities were excluded. Sites representative of the built environment have been examined in a separate inventory and a report on the regional plan.
The nationally and regionally valuable landscape areas of Pirkanmaa were invented simultaneously in 2012-2013. The areas proposed as areas of national value have been presented in a separate publication and as a spatial data set.
