Since the 1920s, IGN has been at the forefront of techniques for acquiring and processing aerial images. Every year, the aircraft of the IGN air fleet cross the skies of France to ensure the photographic coverage of some twenty departments. These photographs have many applications of historical, scientific or environmental nature. The digital acquisition of aerial shots, initiated in 1999, has been widespread since 2005.
Historical shots on silver media since 1920 are gradually dematerialised so that they can be made available as digital files.
Dematerialised aerial photos can be downloaded in JPEG2000 format.
Paper prints are possible, in contact format or with enlargements ranging from 50x50 cm to 120x120 cm. Silver aerial photos, are also available on CD-ROM in TIFF format from a scan at 1000 dpi.
These services are ordered on the boutique Loisirs de l’IGN once the missions and photos selected the Géoportail site.
