Women’s participation in political and economic life (IPF-a indicator) in 2012
Description
The Alternative Indicator for Women’s Participation in Political and Economic Life (IPF-a), defined by Jean Gadrey in 2006, is a synthetic indicator very similar to that of UNDP. This IPF-a is the average of three indicators between 0 and 1, namely: — for political parity, the percentage of women in Parliament divided by 50; — for equal access to the two occupational groups 1 and 2 defined by UNDP, the indicator is the sum of the percentage of women in group 1 and their percentage in group 2; — for equal access to labour income, it will be the ratio of income per woman to income per man, as defined by UNDP. The closer the IPF-a is to 1, the more parity is met according to the 3 criteria used in the synthetic indicator. This indicator is calculated at regional level and updated annually.
