The involvement of the entourage and professionals with the elderly at home
Description
State of play of the assistance received by elderly people living at home, and in particular the assistance provided by those around them, based on the responses to the Handicap-Health survey carried out jointly by DREES and INSEE in 2008.The Handicap-Health Survey in Ordinary Households (HSM) — INSEE, 2008-2009 — collected information from 30,000 people living at home in 2008. Following the HSM 2008 survey, the Handicap-Health survey among caregivers in the neighbourhood (HSA), conducted by DREES from April to September 2008, interviews nearly 5,000 caregivers aged 16 or older who are part of the entourage (family, friends, neighbours) and regularly provide life support, material or financial support or moral support to a person interviewed in the HSM survey for reasons of health or disability.
