Comparison of cross-border territories at national level: towards a typology based on integration logics
Description
The Centre for Geographical Studies of the University of Metz was commissioned by UMS Riate to conduct a first reflection on the issues of comparability of cross-border territories at the national level and to produce a mapping set illustrating three first themes for three pilot sites. The first part sets out the specific challenges of border territories, whether theoretical, methodological and/or operational. The second part explains the methodological choices induced by comparability, which concern the harmonisation of mesh size, the delimitation of study areas and the indicators respectively. Finally, the third part presents the different integration logics that are read through the major territorial dynamics of metropolisation, territorial flows and complementarities.
