OpenStreetMap data from Metropolitan France

Description

Daily extract and update files of all OpenStreetMap data on metropolitan France.

This data comes from crowdsourcing carried out by the contributors to the OpenStreetMap project and is therefore under ODbL license which requires an identical sharing and the mandatory attribution mention must be “© OpenStreetMap contributors under ODbL license” in accordance with http://osm.org/copyright

This data can be used to produce map backgrounds, but also to perform route calculations, thematic extractions, spatial analyses, etc.

Integral data

An extract is generated daily by geographical filtering on the right-of-way of metropolitan territory.

Real Time Updates

Every minute, a “diff” file is made available to update the France extract.
See, for example, its use for updating the production data of a map background: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Minutely_Mapnik

Format

The data is available in OSM PBF (ProtoBuff) binary format.
The “diff” update files are in OSM XML format.

Content

The data collected by the OpenStreetMap project is very varied. They are described geometrically (nodes, paths, relationships) and semanticly (key attributes/value).

To explore the attributes OpenStreetMap France provides an instance of the taginfo tool limited to France: http://taginfo.openstreetmap.fr/
This tool allows you to view statistics on the number of objects present in the data based on the keys and values of the attributes.

If you have any questions about this data, you can contact exports@openstreetmap.fr
