http://journee-arts-culture-sup.fr/ THE 1ST EDITION THE FRAMEWORK CONVENTION “UNIVERSITY, PLACE OF CULTURE” The ministries responsible for culture and higher education and the Conference of University Presidents signed in Avignon on 12 July 2013: the framework convention “University, place of culture”. This convention highlights the important role universities play in creating and disseminating culture and art at the national and international levels. Animation and cultural and artistic practices undeniably promote: — the development of their influence and attractiveness — the success of students in their studies and their professional integration — the enrichment of their curriculum — stimulation of their creativity A NEW IMPETUS FOR CULTURE AND THE ARTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION This agreement establishes a new collaboration between the two ministries to: to intensify the cultural and artistic practices of students and university communities to open these practices to all dimensions of culture (including scientific and technical) to develop the artistic presence in universities to strengthen exchanges between universities and their environment so as to make them places open to the city and recognised local cultural actors As the Convention recalls, the common mission of the two ministries is to: promote the access of the greatest number to culture by pursuing in higher education the ambitious project of an artistic and cultural education started from school. ARTS AND CULTURE DAY IN HIGHER EDUCATION It is in this context that the two ministers decided to launch a Day of Arts and Culture in Higher Education on 10 April 2014. This day, a showcase of cultural and artistic actions carried out in higher education, aims to become every year an exceptional moment of sharing and encounters especially with the general public who will be able to discover the diversity and quality of cultural and artistic offers. All universities and schools are therefore invited to join this national event and present the achievements that seem to them the most emblematic of their production.
