Renewable electricity; production and power
Description
This table contains data on the Dutch production of renewable electricity, the number of installations used and the installed capacity of those installations. In the case of production, a distinction is made between normalised gross production and non-normalised gross and net production.
Electricity production is shown in million kilowatt-hours and as a percentage of total electricity consumption in the Netherlands. Renewable electricity production is compared to total electricity consumption and not to total electricity production. This choice stems from European agreements.
The data are broken down by type of energy source and the technique used to obtain the electricity. A distinction is made between four main categories: hydropower, wind power, solar power and biomass.

Status of figures:
The figures in this table are final until 2021, further provisional for 2022 and 2023.

RED II is the revised EU Renewable Energy Directive that entered into force in 2021.

Figures for 2021 and 2022 have been updated, 2021 is now definitive and 2022 is further provisional.
The figures for 2015-2020 have been revised in other tables on electricity. This revision has not been made to this table, so there may be inconsistencies of up to 80 GWh on an annual basis between the figures for total biomass.

Changes as of 8 February 2023
Normalised electricity production from biomass co-firing and co-firing in power plants has been modified for 2021.
Discussions with RVO, which ensures the sustainability of subsidised solid biomass for energy applications, have shown that 100% of the solid biomass used for co-firing and co-firing meets RED II criteria for sustainability of biomass in 2021. As a result, the normalised gross electricity production of co-owned and co-owned 3.6 billion kWh is higher than in the December 2022 update and equals the non-standardised production. As a result, total renewable normalised electricity production as a percentage of total consumption increases by 3 percentage points. RED II is the revised EU Renewable Energy Directive that came into force in 2021.
When will there be new figures:
Preliminary figures on electricity production for the previous year are published in February each year.
Preliminary figures on electricity production for the previous year are published in June each year.
Final figures on electricity production for the previous year are published each year in December.
