Environmental Ordinance - Drinking Water Reserve Areas
Description
In order to ensure that there will be sufficient 'good' drinking water in all circumstances in the future, we must now designate drinking water reserve areas. The protection rules are different in 2 types of reservation areas: less sensitive areas with a deep thick clay layer that protects groundwater; vulnerable drinking water reserve areas without this protective layer. In areas with a deep thick clay layer that protects the groundwater, above ground can do more. The rules here are similar to the rules for a drilling-free zone around existing drinking water abstractions. In the update plan you will find all the rules. The update plan was adopted by the Provincial Council on 21 December 2022, the date of entry into force being 14 January 2023.
