Natura 2000 sites (Environmental Vision 2016-2020)
Description
This file contains Natura 2000 areas as defined in the Environmental Vision Province of Groningen 2016-2020.
An important part of the NNN is the Natura 2000 sites. Natura 2000 is the name of a European network of nature reserves with important flora and fauna, seen from a European perspective. Natura 2000 aims to protect these flora and fauna in a sustainable manner.
For each Natura 2000 site, the competent authority adopts a management plan describing measures, management and monitoring. This is done in close consultation with owners, users and other relevant authorities such as municipalities, water boards and provinces.
We are responsible for the implementation and reporting for the Lieftinghsbroek, Zuidlaardermeer and Lauwersmeer areas. The areas of Leekstermeer and Drentsche Aa fall under the responsibility of the province of Drenthe. The government is responsible for the North Sea Coastal Zone and the Wadden Sea.
