INSPIRE (HB) - Marine Strategy Framework Directive modelled habitat types (WFS)
Description
Map layer of the distribution of the main types of seabed habitats in accordance with the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, created as a result of the work “Modernisation of map data on habitats in Estonian marine area” (Estonian Marine Institute of the University of Tartu, 2018). So far, no mapping of seabed habitats has been carried out in Estonia under the MSFD (EU Commission Decision 2017/848). Therefore, modelling has been used to create this layer, based on the available monitoring results of national environmental monitoring and relevant projects. Inventories as of 2017 covered about one third of the entire Estonian marine area, so when using the data, it must be remembered that this is a modelled distribution layer.
