RAMSAR Areas in Schleswig-Holstein LfU

Description

The International Convention on Wetlands, signed in Ramsar (Iran) in 1971, is an intergovernmental agreement on the conservation and environmentally sound use of wetlands and their resources. Ratified by the Federal Republic of Germany in 1976. The Ramsar Convention requires States Parties to conserve and promote wetlands, including by designating areas that meet the Ramsar criteria. In Schleswig-Holstein, the area "Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea and adjacent areas" was officially named on 15.11.1991.
