Description
This storage map signals the potential to store freshwater in the first water-bearing package by means of infiltration systems. The availability of good and sufficient fresh water is an important requirement for our society. Greenhouse horticulture in particular depends on a reliable, constant freshwater supply. In summer and winter there is often a mismatch between supply and demand of fresh water. This is only expected to increase due to climate change and intensification of cultivation. The source map on which this map is based was developed in 2013 on behalf of the province of Zuid-Holland.
