Statistical zones

Description

The statistical zones of the city of Zurich correspond to another – even more detailed – administrative division of the statistical quarters.

The statistical zones correspond to the smallest subdivision of administrative divisions. The city of Zurich is divided into 12 urban districts, which in turn are made up of the 34 statistical city quarters. The statistical city quarters have again been divided into 216 statistical zones.

Each quarter is divided into 3 to 16 statistical zones. These are marked with a unique number (see below) which consists of the city quarter number and a running number. Since it is easier to remember the name of an area, Statistics City of Zurich has given everyone an – unofficial – name. Important squares and street names were used during the naming process, which should help with spatial orientation.

Purpose: Statistical data of the City of Zurich are often divided into statistical zones, statistical quarters or city districts for spatial differentiation. In general, administrative divisions serve as the basis for administrative tasks for the City of Zurich.
