Exchange points for public transport and parking in Pirkanmaa – study material 2015
Description
The material contains the proposal for a target space produced in the Pirkanmaa connection parking development report on the location of the key access parking and exchange points in 2040. A proposal on the locations of significant parking and exchange points was prepared in cooperation with the Pirkanmaa Regional Council, the authorities and stakeholders.
The study examined the current state of Pirkanmaa connection parking and assessed the effects of the connection parking on the operation of the transport system. The main objective was to support the drafting process of the Pirkanmaa regional plan 2040 by highlighting the needs and objectives for the coordination of different modes of transport.
The Pirkanmaa connection parking sites were divided into three different types of area, depending on the location of the area in relation to the target state of the transport system. Type A areas are regionally significant, mainly related to rail transport. Type B areas are locally significant targets. Type C areas are smaller areas of the road network related to bus transport. The work also includes a proposal on the location of the county’s key public transport exchange points (V). In the target situation for 2040, Pirkanmaa has about 100 connecting parking areas with a total of approximately 4000 access parking spaces.
Based on this report, Pirkanmaa’s regional plan 2040 presented the most significant connecting points and exchange points for public transport.
