Nitrate in surface water in agricultural area
Description
The quality of surface water in agricultural areas is monitored in the MAP monitoring network. The number of measuring points was increased from around 260 to around 760 at the end of 2002. Excessive nitrate concentration in surface water threatens drinking water production and can lead to excessive algae growth in surface water.
