Special maps of the 3rd Military Survey
Description
Orthorectified Special Maps of the 3rd Military Survey at a scale of 1:75 000. The original mapping took place in the 1880s, but subsequently several updates were made. Maps in this dataset were issued in the period just before or after World War II (1935 - 1938 and 1946 - 1947), but they show the state of the territory most often from the late 1920s and early 1930s. The latest map sheets already contain reprints of the kilometre-long network of S-JTSK coordinates or they also use contour lines to represent altimetry in addition to hatching. The positional accuracy of special maps fluctuates, there are noticeable local deformations, deviations in some places reach over 100 meters. For the processing of the seamless image were used for the vast majority of already scanned map sheets of special maps of the 3rd military mapping created by the Laboratory of Geoinformatics of the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem as part of the R&D project for the Ministry of the Environment. The missing map sheets 3955 Hradec Králové, 4060 Ostrava and 4061 Karviná were obtained from a private archive and scanned additionally through CENIA. Orthorectification of individual map sheets for CENIA was created by the Slovak agency of the living environment. The merging of the map sheets into the resulting seamless map image was performed by CENIA.
