Drain dynamics in the snow alpine massif. To assess the environmental influences on the quality of the spring water.

Description

The karst massif of the Schneealpe with an area of 113 km2 is located about 100 km southwest from Vienna (Figure 1 ). A significant part of this area is occupied by a high plateau with an average altitude of 1,800 m. This massif represents the same permanent karst body. The slates and phyllites of the greywacken zone form the basement of a sequence of three slabs (Tyrolean, Mürzalpendecke, Schneealpen-Deckscholle). The structure of these units is based on the following layer members: Werfen layers, Gutenstein lime, Steinalm lime, Reiflinger lime, Hallstätter Bunt lime, Wetterstein lime and dolomite, Waxenegg lime. The series of Werfen slates at the base of the triadic carbonates form the most important reservoir horizon.
