DSI - Water sensitive open space areas - Contours

Description

More and more space is being built and paved in Flanders, so that less space remains free to temporarily collect the water in case of heavy rain showers. In order to better protect Flanders, the Flemish Government wants to safeguard the water storage capacity of certain water-sensitive areas and provide sufficient space for water. The Flemish Government wants to reallocate these areas to an open space function via a spatial implementation plan (RUP) or by designating them as water-sensitive open space areas. Op 19 juli 2024 heeft de Vlaamse Regering ruim 710 ha verspreid over 139 watergevoelige openruimtegebieden (WORG) aangeduid. Within these areas, only open space functions such as agriculture, nature and forest are allowed.
