Soil 1:200 000 (soil species)
Description
Soil 1:200 000 (soil species) contains material produced during 2002-2009 throughout Finland. The mapping scale has been 1:50-00-1:200 000. 1:20 000, 1:50 000 and 1:100 000 soil base maps and 1:200 000 scale new production based on interpretation and mapping have been used for the compilation of medium-scale data. The minimum size of the soil pattern is usually about 6 ha. The covering peat layer is described/classified in new production as rowing (0-0.3 m peat), thin peat (0.3-0.6 m peat) and thick peat (over 0.6 m peat). Swamps, rows, rocks and open rocks have been added to new production by generalising the corresponding figures in the National Land Survey of Finland’s terrain database.
