WMS Flood Restraint Basin
Description
Flood retention basins are reservoirs whose reservoirs serve, in whole or in part, for the temporary retention of floods (DIN 4048-1 1.3). This also includes restraints in the adjoining closure e.g. on the Rhine (IRP restraints). Dams are reservoirs that block the entire valley cross section beyond the cross-section of the watercourse. They usually consist of the main lock (block construction with storage tank) and pre-locks (blocks with storage tanks or storage tanks, DIN 4048-1 1.2).
