Description
The Basic Block Map (BBK) is a geodata base (basic map) specially developed for Dresden, which maps the small and coarse-scale division of the urban area of the state capital Dresden into so-called gross/net blocks. Starting from road edges of the road node network 1:5000 (SKN5), boundaries and selected waters (Elbe and standing waters larger than 10000 m2) as well as dividing lines (e.g. border of a railway area), the individual blocks are formed according to administrative, statistical and settlement-structural aspects.
Since 1992, the Dresden urban area has been hierarchically divided into city districts (formerly local offices) and localities for statistical, urban planning and administrative purposes. As a result of the incorporations of 1997 and 1999, 9 villages were created in addition to the city districts.
