Potential restored pasture
Description
By utilising existing geodata, data has been created with existing and potentially restored pastures in Sweden.
There is also a national gross layer for existing and potential grasslands as well as layers for existing claimed land in Sweden, as well as current land cover on previously managed arable land.
With the help of historical data from the Farming Register, which shows the change in agriculture during the period 1951-1995, certain thematic images of change have been produced. Map layers shall provide a knowledge base to support dialogue with farmers in order to contribute to economically viable farms focusing on livestock production on natural pastures. They should be able to be used as a concrete basis for support for active measures from both the County Administrative Board and farmers, such as extended grazing pens, improved land consolidation, to identify restorable or potentially grubbing-up land, etc. Advice on how different financial support/remuneration can be combined to improve the economy of the user is an important complement.
Another use is that it can be a basis for locating potential pastures to be used in crisis situations due to prolonged droughts such as summer 2018.
