Description
The theme includes the change in the course of Dresden's second-order rivers since 1880 and the first-order rivers with associated mill ditches since 1790. It shows the historical course of the rivers in the years 1790 (only first-order waters with associated mill ditches), 1880, 1900 and 1940. The thematic group also includes the course of water from 2003 and 2008. However, the changes in watercourses during this period are only to a small extent caused by water reorganizations, most of the changes are corrections due to knowledge gain. When comparing the historical water courses with the current water network, it should be noted that numerous small waters were not registered there due to the degree of generalization of the underlying historical maps and are therefore not included here.

The "Historical Waters" were determined in 2003 by the Leibniz Institute for Ecological Spatial Development Dresden from the following historical maps: Measuring table sheets 1:25.000 edition 1940, measuring table sheets 1:25.000 edition 1900, the equidistant map of the Kingdom of Saxony 1 : 25 000 around 1880, Saxon Mile Pages 1 : 12 000 around 1790
