Description
As a Member State of the EU, Sweden is subject to the Noise Directive (2002/49/EC) and will carry out strategic surveys of noise from major roads, railways, airports and industries, as well as municipalities with more than 100000 inhabitants every five years. The survey shall be carried out using a common methodology within the EU. The method of calculation to be used is Cnossos-EU, Common Noise Assessment Methods in Europe.
In addition to municipalities over 100000 inhabitants, roads with more than 3 million vehicles per year, railways with more than 30000 trains per year and airports with more than 50000 air movements per year will be mapped.
The survey is carried out in the EU metrics Lden and Lnight. In Lden, special consideration is given to whether noise occurs in the evening and at night.
