Territorial assistance: Health emergency activities

Description

In 2015 for the medical transport of people or materials, 10 medicalized rescue vehicles (NAW or NEF), 33 basic advanced rescue vehicles (RTW), 7 mixed transport vehicles (NKTW), 94 non-urgent transport vehicles (KTW or LKTW) and 41 cars for the transport of laboratory tests, reports, plasma, etc. were used by the White Cross and Red Cross rescue organizations. The helicopter rescue service is equipped with 2 helicopters (Pelikan 1 and Pelikan 2), one located at the Hospital of Bolzano and the other at the Hospital of Brixen. In case of special needs an additional aircraft is made available by the Alpine rescue organization Aiut Alpin Dolomites, during the winter and summer season. Health Emergency Interventions In 2015, 66,011 health emergency interventions were carried out, equal to a daily average of about 181 interventions. In 79.2% of the interventions the ambulances of the White Cross were rescued, while in 16.5% the Red Cross rescue vehicles were used. Helicopter emergency interventions were managed by the provincial Helicopter Rescue Service (3.1%) and the Alpine rescue organization Aiut Alpin Dolomites (1.2%). In order to carry out emergency interventions in an ambulance, over one million six hundred thousand kilometers were covered in 2015, equal to an average of about 27 kilometers per intervention. In addition, 2,793 helicopter interventions were carried out, for a total number of about 1,700 flight hours (about 36 minutes of flight per intervention). Non-Urgent Health Transport Interventions In 2015, the Health Transport Service carried out 100,803 scheduled health transports, equal to an average of about 276 transport interventions per day. In 94.2% of the cases the White Cross transport ambulances intervened, while in 5.7% the Red Cross health transport vehicles were used. In order to carry out non-urgent medical transports, about 4 million were traveled in 2015, for an average value of 41 kilometers for each transport intervention. The helicopter interventions were 109 (for exercises and / or other non-urgent interventions) for a total of 137 flight hours.
