Description

This table contains figures on the careers of start-up self-employed workers in the Netherlands. This concerns all persons aged 15 years or older who start as self-employed in one year. The data can be broken down by gender, type of self-employed (in the start year), labour market position after 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years (level), the industry (SBI 2008) in which one starts and the personal characteristics of age, migration background and position in the household. Data available from: 2008-2015 Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. Changes as of 3 July 2020: None, this table has been discontinued. Changes as of 20 September 2019: The figures relating to the labour market position in 2016 are added to this table. This means that for the starters of 2011 the labour market position is now known after 5 years, for the starters of 2012 the labour market position after 4 years, for the starters of 2013 the labour market position after 3 years, etc. In the source file for this table the derivation of the characteristic ‘working position’ has been adjusted. This characteristic is used to determine the type of self-employment that is a person at the start and also the labour market position in the level year. The change means that the employment position of persons in a household with no perceived income has been converted to ‘belongs to household without perceived income’. In the previous version of the source file, these persons could also have a different employment position, for example as a self-employed person. This adjustment leads to minor changes in the figures on start-up self-employed persons and their careers in this table. When are new figures coming? The table has been discontinued and is continued in a new table. For more information see paragraph 3.
