Topographic Military Map 1850, net drawings
Description
The field minutes for the Topographic Military Map (TMK) were made between 1836 and 1856 by officers of the Bureau of Military Explorations with the aim of producing a topographic map for the whole of the Netherlands for the first time. The result of the explorations is elaborated in color in a series of net drawings. These grid drawings form the intermediary between the terrain work, the field minutes, and the map sheets of the TMK engraved in stone. These are issued in black and white. The grid drawings are the only colored version that is available nationwide. The grid drawings were scanned by the Alterra Geo-Information Centre and georeferenced in the RD system. The end result is an imagefile of a net drawing in geotiff format.
