Caribbean NL: medical contacts, hospital admissions, medicines; features
Description
This table describes the use of care for the population of the Caribbean Netherlands aged 15 years and older in private households. The table shows contacts with healthcare providers, hospital admissions, visits to the laboratory for blood tests and medication use.
The following aspects are addressed:
— contacts with the GP
— contacts with the specialist
— contacts with the dentist
— contacts with the physiotherapist/exercise therapist
— hospitalisations, with and without overnight stay
— visit to the blood test laboratory
— medication use, both prescribed and non-prescribed medicines.
These aspects are shown for the Caribbean Netherlands as a whole, but also for the islands of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba. Breakdowns by gender, age and level of education are also possible.
The investigation is a sample examination. This means that the figures shown are estimates, for which reliability margins apply. These margins are also included in the table.
The Omnibus survey was conducted for the first time in 2013 on Bonaire, Saba and St Eustatius in the month of June and the first week of July. The Omnibus survey was carried out for the second time in the months of October and November 2017 on Bonaire, and in the period January to March 2018 on Saba and St Eustatius. In 2021, the survey was carried out in the months of October to December.
