Ground map of Lower Saxony 1 : 50 000 - Potential drainage areas in Lower Saxony

Description

In order to improve soil quality, wet soils under agricultural use are usually drained by the installation of drainage systems. The information on where areas are drained is of great importance in many questions, for example in the modelling of groundwater recharge. The use-differentiated ground map of Lower Saxony on a scale of 1: 50,000 (BK 50n) provides parameters for the potentially natural and use-adapted water levels of the Gleye, Marschen and Moore as well as information on the reservoir water horizons at Pseudogleyen and Knickmarschen. From this information, surfaces with drainages can be derived. In the case of groundwater-affected soils and pseudogleys, it is generally assumed that drainage has been carried out on the basis of experience in the use of arable land or grassland. In the map, the drainage requirement is shown in a differentiated manner for congestion and groundwater. For heavily soaked soils, drainage under agricultural use is assumed, for less soaked soils, demand drainage is expected. GEHRT, E., BUG, J. & WALDECK, A.
