25x25 m Drainage Directions (MDD) Map
Description
Map of drainage directions of 25x25 m. Each cell indicates its drainage direction. The starting information to obtain the address model has been the digital terrain model (MDT) of the IGN of 25x25m and the 1:25,000 river cartography network (BCN25).
This drainage direction model (MDD) is the result of an iterative process of corrections of the drainage direction value in the original MDD in order to obtain a derived network coincident with 1:25,000 cartography and watersheds.
The value of each cell indicates the flow direction: 1.- East; 2.- Northeast; 3.- Sump; 4.- South; 8.- Southwest; 16.- West; 32.- Northwest; 64.- North; 128.- Northeast.
The methodology applied to obtain this information and its application for the hydrographic classification of rivers in Spain according to the Pfafstetter method has been developed by CEDEX. The detailed information is contained in Monograph M-133 ‘Hydrographic Classification of the Rivers of Spain’, published by the Publications Centre of the Technical Secretariat-General.
