Supply of ecosystem services; physical and monetary, region
Description
The data in this table represent different ecosystem services in the Netherlands, grouped into three categories: production, regulatory and cultural services. These services are provided by ecosystems and show the economic use of nature. Each service is expressed in both a physical and a monetary value, highlighting their value in both tangible and financial terms.
The aim of the Natural Capital Accounts is to map the relationship between nature, economy and human activities in a clear and internationally comparable manner, literally. CBS is working with Wageningen University (WUR) on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) on the development of models, data and maps that provide a spatial and as complete as possible picture of the current state of natural capital in the Netherlands. This system of accounts is based on ecosystem services; the contributions of ecosystems to our economy and to other human activities.

The monetary value of the ecosystem service air filtration for the total of the Netherlands turned out to be too high due to a double counting in the process, and has been corrected for all years.
