Description

The Provincial Health Service guarantees outpatient specialist care services consisting of visits carried out by specialist doctors, instrumental and laboratory diagnostic tests and therapeutic and rehabilitative services. The data presented refer to the outpatient specialist services contained in the provincial tariff nomenclature and collected through the information flow of the outpatient specialist (SPA flow). Specialist First Aid and Short Intensive Observation services not followed by hospitalisation and outpatient specialist services provided by private facilities under an agreement are also included; On the other hand, the services provided by private structures under the "indirect specialist assistance" regime are not considered, as there is no information flow that detects this activity. The use of specialist care by residents of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano is quantified by the ratio between the benefits provided to residents at provincial, national and Austrian health facilities and the resident population. In 2015, the consumption rate of specialist services was 15.3 per resident in the Province. The analysis of interregional specialist mobility considers all outpatient specialist services provided by provincial structures to patients residing in other Italian regions (active mobility), as well as services provided by other regions to South Tyrolean patients (passive mobility). In 2013, in line with previous years, the Province presented a balance of interregional mobility equal to 150,067 benefits, i.e. it provided residents of other Italian regions with more benefits than those received by its residents in non-provincial structures. Also in monetary terms, the balance between active and passive interregional mobility is positive and equal to 1.116.794,91 Euro. Non-resident patients who have benefited most from services provided by provincial structures come from the Autonomous Province of Trento (32.1%) and Veneto (26.8%).
