Issue No. 3 from the series “scriptum — Work Results from the Geological Service North Rhine-Westphalia” was produced as a dissertation at RWTH Aachen and describes the urban water cycle in the urban area of Krefeld. For this purpose, influencing factors over the last 200 years have been taken into account and a large number of groundwater measuring stations have been evaluated. The development and transformation of the former natural water cycle towards an urban, since the beginning of industrialisation, are presented.
