Methane background values in the groundwater of Lower Saxony 1: 500,000 (WMS Service)
Description
As part of a joint project (LBEG, BGR), background values for dissolved methane in the groundwater of Lower Saxony were determined for the hydrogeological subareas of Lower Saxony. The background values of dissolved methane include the levels that occur in the groundwater under natural conditions. Methane is mainly formed in-situ by microorganisms and degraded in groundwater. The map shows the color-differentiated methane background values (90 % percentiles) of the different subspaces or subspace groups. Detailed information can be found in GeoReport 35.
