Areas under seed-growing fields

Description

The data set shall cover data on species and varieties propagated in Latvia which, in accordance with international requirements, must undergo official inspections of seed growing fields. During the inspection of seed growing fields, the State Plant Protection Service, upon request of the seed grower, shall verify the conformity of the variety sowings for the acquisition of seeds in accordance with the provisions for seed growing and seed marketing. Seed certification shall mean the identification of varieties, the examination of the growing conditions and the characteristics of the seed quality, which shall include field inspection, seed quality assessment and post-control, and shall be validated by an appropriate document.
