Housing stock; Stocks and changes since 1921
Description
This table contains figures on the changes in the stock of dwellings in the Netherlands according to the definitions of the Basic Registrations Addresses and Buildings (BAG). The BAG contains basic information about all buildings and addresses per municipality in the Netherlands. The municipalities are responsible for the quality of the filling of the BAG. As of the reporting year 2012, CBS uses the BAG as a source for the statistics ‘stock of dwellings and non-residential dwellings’.
Before that, the statistics on the housing stock were based on the Housing Register. During this transition to another source, a method break has occurred. Because there is a need for continuous long time series, research has been carried out into the nature and extent of the method breach in the housing stock 2011-2012 and this breach has been repaired. The starting point for this fracture repair is that the new definitions are leading according to the BAG. Data on the housing stock for 2012 are in line with the data after 2012.
From 2021, CBS has fully switched to the use of BAG 2.0. As a result of this transition, the new statuses 'renovation' and 'unjustified' for buildings and residential objects will become available in the BAG. Residential objects with the new status ‘renovation’ are included in the stock. This expansion has not led to a trend break in the stock and only has the consequence that the statuses in which a residence object is located can be distinguished.
