Population; position in household, country of origin, country of birth on 1 January
Description
This table provides information on the population of the Netherlands by household position (private and institutional), gender, age, country of origin and country of birth as of 1 January.
CBS is moving on to a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, it is more decisive where someone was born, and less decisive where one’s parents were born. The word ‘migration background’ is no longer used. The main division of Western/Non-Western is replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin.
Data available from: 2022.
Earlier periods will be added to the table at a later date.
Status of the figures:
All figures in the table are final.
Amendments as of 28 December 2023:
None, this is a new table and replaces table Population; position in huish, migration backgr, generation, lft, 1997-2023. See paragraph 3.
The following changes to the discontinued table have been made:
— The tab ‘Migration background’ has been replaced by ‘Herkomstland’;
— The countries of origin Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Türkiye are allocated to the continent Asia (was Europe);
— The tab ‘Generation’ has been replaced by ‘Country of birth’.
When will there be new figures?
For the time being, only dates from 2022 are available in the table. Earlier periods will be added to the table at a later date.
In the 4th quarter of 2024, the final figures of 1 January 2024 will be added to the table.
