Emissions to air on Dutch territory; totals
Description
CBS has moved on to a new classification of emission sources.
This table contains annual figures on emissions of greenhouse gases and pollutants to air in the Netherlands.
The table shows the actual emissions on or above Dutch territory and the Dutch part of the Continental Shelf (NCP).
These include emissions expressed in kilograms of greenhouse gases carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrous oxides (N2O) and methane (CH4) and emissions of a number of air pollutants, namely sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), ammonia (NH3), volatile organic compounds other than methane (NMVOC), carbon monoxide (CO) and particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10 (particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 and 10 micrometres respectively).
Emissions are broken down by stationary and mobile sources,
The calculation of emissions from stationary sources is based, among other things, on the emission statements in the environmental annual reports of individual companies and CBS production and energy data.
Emissions from mobile sources have been calculated by multiplying activity data, such as vehicle kilometres and fuel consumption, with associated emission factors.
Data available from: 1990.
Due to insufficient data quality, the years 1991 to 1994 and 1996 to 1999 are not shown.
Status of the figures:
All 2022 figures are provisional; the figures from 1990 to 2021 are final. In order to achieve a coherent and consistent time series, the complete time series is (re)calculated each year, in the first quarter, so that the latest insights, in particular as regards emission factors, can be taken into account in the calculations.
