This table contains information on the length of waterways.
A distinction is made according to the category of waterway compartment type.

None, this is a new table. Information on length of waterways for 2019 can be found in Length of waterways, 2005 to 2018, see paragraph 3 for the link.
Since 2019, Rijkswaterstaat has the characteristics: administrator, navigability, economic importance, recreational tour class and waterway character no longer updated. In this new table these characteristics are no longer available, instead the length of the waterways is divided according to the characteristic waterway type.
In 2023, there is a significant difference in the figures for the province of Fryslân compared to previous years. This is an improvement in the waterways stocks of Rijkswaterstaat. That is why we are seeing an increase in the length of the waterways this year.
When will there be new figures:
In the fourth quarter of 2024, the figures for the year 2024 are published.
