Birth; fertility, country of origin and mother’s birth
Description
This table contains figures on the number of live born children (numbers and per thousand women), the average mother’s age at the birth of her child and the average number of children per woman.
The data can be broken down by country of birth of the mother and country of origin of the mother.
Figures on the live-born children per thousand women and the average number of children per woman at the birth of her child have been shown both standardised and non-standardised.
CBS is moving on to a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, it is more decisive where someone was born, and less decisive where one’s parents were born. The word ‘migration background’ is no longer used. The main division of Western/Non-Western is replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin.

The figures in this table are final.
Amendments as of 5 December 2023:
None, this is a new table. This table is the successor of Birth; fertility, migration background and mother generation;2010-2022. See paragraph 3.
The following changes to the discontinued table have been made:
— The topics have been expanded to include “Living born children, relative, standardised” and “Average mother age at birth, standardised”;
— The tab ‘Mother migration background’ has been replaced by ‘Herkomstland mother’;
— The tab ‘Generation mother’ has been replaced by ‘Nature mother’;
— The countries of origin Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Türkiye are allocated to the continent Asia (was Europe).
When will there be new figures?
For the time being, only dates from 2022 are available in the table. Earlier periods will be added to the table at a later date.
In the 3 rd quarter of 2024, the 2023 figures are added to this publication.
