New-build homes; output price index construction costs 2000 = 100, from 1914 onwards
Description
The historical series 'Newly built homes; Output price index construction costs 2000=100, from 1914' indicates the evolution of the construction costs of homes and was created by the linking of old independently calculated series. The indices were based on data from the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment analysed by the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment from 1914 to the 4th quarter 1991. Thereafter until 1994 on data from the building permits granted for housing in the social rental sector. From 1995 onwards, they are based on the granted building permits of all homes.

Data including VAT are available from 1914 and excluding VAT from 1969.
In the historical series, only annual figures are available for the years 1914 to 1949. From 1950 onwards, in addition to the annual figures, quarterly figures are also available.
Status of the figures:
The historical series was calculated for the first time on the basis 2000 = 100 in January 2010. Because this is obtained by linking successive, independent series, it bears the character of an estimate. Price differences resulting from changes in execution and quality have been eliminated as much as possible within the original series. The figures remain for four quarters for the time being.
Amendments as of 29 December 2023:
The figures for the 3 rd quarter 2022 have been definitively adopted. Provisional figures for the third quarter of 2023 have also been added.
When will there be new figures?
In March 2024, the preliminary figures for the 4th quarter of 2023 are published.
