This data set contains the landscape map in the city district of Düsseldorf.It deals with protected landscape components, landscape protected areas, nature reserves, natural monuments, as well as the scope of the landscape plan.
Protected landscape components are structured or invigorating elements of the cultural landscape. The tree and wood stock of a landscape section can be secured as a protected landscape component. Landscape protected areas are areas that aim at the overall appearance of the landscape.
The character of a cultural landscape with the dissociating and invigorating elements is to be protected. Landscape protected areas can also be designated to preserve the landscape for tourism and recreation. Nature reserves are areas that are very important for the conservation of important habitats of wild animals and plants.
They are also scientific, regional, natural or earth-historical areas of interest. The primary objective is to protect habitats and thus preserve biological diversity (biodiversity).
Natural monuments are particularly rare specimens, testimonies of history or trees that are particularly characteristic for their surroundings.
They are also considered “individual creations of nature whose special protection is necessary for scientific, natural history or earth-historical reasons or because of their rarity, peculiarity or beauty.” In addition to trees, geological formations, stones or earth layers can also be designated as natural monuments.
