Lower Jura base (Lias) in the duck beak
Description
The base of the Lower Jura extends to depths from 800 m to about 5 800 m. The largest depth is reached within the John Basin. Along the border with the Danish North Sea sector, on the Mads high and in the south-west of the duck beak, the horizon also runs at great depths between 5200-5 600 m. The shallowest part is located within the central trench along the flanks of the Bruni Saltstock. In the northwest and in the central area of the duck beak, sediments of the lias are not preserved extensively.
