Vahti guideline 2001/4 Information security guidelines for electronic services and services
Description
This guide outlines recommended practices based on experience on data security for electronic services. A good level of information security is a prerequisite for the management of electronic services, quality and the utilisation of information technology.
The key target groups of the guidelines are the management of the units providing electronic services and the persons responsible for the development and maintenance of electronic services, as well as persons responsible for information management and information security.
Information security of basic systems, effective information security work and the professional skills of the personnel are prerequisites for the implementation of information security in electronic services. Preparedness for information security risks must be proportional to the type of service. In the case of electronic services, particular attention shall be paid to the information security features of the IT components. The key elements of technical information security are real-time monitoring and up-to-date technical components. When implementing electronic services with the help of IT companies, an agreement on information security must be made in writing and information security expertise should be used as a key partner selection criterion.
