Road characteristics database-WKD/Maximum Speeds
Description
The Road Characteristics Database is a collection of databases each with a relevant road attribute
this can be linked to the national road stock (NWB). These can be road characteristics
include, for example, the maximum speed, the width of the road or the presence of entry. There is a separate file for each of these road features.
The Road Characteristics Database Maximum Speeds contains speed limits for all roads in the NWB.
With the
road compartment_ID can be linked to the NWB’s geography.WKD is
early 2017 for the whole of the Netherlands filled with data provided by municipalities.Since that
now are the new traffic decisions, via Knowledge and Operations Centre for Official
Government publications (KOOP) used to detect and detect changes in speed limits processing.
The NWB changes faster than speed limits are being made by road managers
delivered or placed in SALE.
By means of algorithms, the speed is where necessary
supplemented by short intermediate road sections.
As a result, a few percent of the
speed limit unknown.
NB:
In residential areas with a maximum speed of 30 km/h, or a residential area, this leads
to great deviations from reality.
Since 2017, the number of roads with a
60 km limit increased significantly.
The possible speeds that can be filled are 5, 15, 20, 30 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90,
100, 120.130 km/h and unknown.
Speeds only apply to roads that are open
for car traffic.
On cycle paths, footpaths and other roads that are not open to
car traffic is unknown for speed.
The same goes for the ferry connections.
The file provides variable maximum speeds with a start time and an end time.
These are
especially applicable to motorways.
Outside this period with the indicated starting time
and the end time is an alternative speed.
So, for example, between 6:00 and 19:00 applies 100
km/h and beyond, the maximum speed is 120 km/h. Other window times than those on the
motorways are not present in the file unless they are by the road manager
indicated.
The road characteristics database for speeds also contains the recommended speeds that apply to a
particular road compartment or part of it.
Now are only advisory speeds for the national roads
included in the file, but in the future this will be expanded with the advisory speeds for
the underlying road network.
