The thickness of the upper chalk deposits in the duck beak
Description
The maximum thickness between the base of the upper chalk and the base of the Paleocene is 1 800 m and is reached in the southeast in a sink or on the flanks around the saltstock Carola. Another local maximum with widths between 1250-1 500 m is on the Schillgrund high. There is no clear trend in the distribution of width. Rather, the width distribution seems to be closely related to the disturbance and salt structure genesis. In the area of the Mads Tomb and Outer Rough High, there is a striking NNW-SSE striking local sedimental power decrease that separates two low-powered sinks east and west from each other.
