Population; gender, age, nationality and region, 1 January
Description
This table contains data on the inhabitants of the Netherlands by sex, age (five-year groups) and a selection of nationalities by region, 1 January.
The regions listed in the table are subdivisions, provinces, COROP areas and municipalities.
The regional totals presented concern aggregations of municipalities.
In the case of border changes that go beyond different regional borders, the classification of the municipalities is grouped according to the most recent situation. For example: The municipality of Vianen was transferred from the province of Zuid-Holland to the province of Utrecht on 01-01-2002 and is grouped in this table in the province of Utrecht.
In this table, the data relating to the population are available if there are 5000 or more persons with this nationality living in the Netherlands, at any period in this table.

All figures in the table are final.

The final figures as of 1 January 2024 have been added.
Changes as of 25 August 2023:
None, this is a new table and replaces table Population;sex,age,nationality,region,1 January;1995-2022. See paragraph 3.
The following changes have been made to the discontinued table:
- The main classification Western/non-Western has been replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries.
- The nationalities Armenian, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tajik, Turkmen and Turkish have been allocated to continental Asia (was Europe);
- For the years 2014 and 2015, small differences may have arisen compared to the discontinued table. These differences are the result of an improved way of deducing nationalities.
When will there be new figures?
For the time being, only data from 2014 is available in the table. The periods 1995 to 2013 will be added to the table at a later date.
In the second quarter of 2025, the figures as of 1 January 2025 will be included in this publication.
