Soils worthy of protection in Lower Saxony 1: 50000 – Soils of Cultural History (WFS Service)
Description
Soils that are particularly worthy of protection include soils whose natural functions and their archiving function are essentially preserved. Impairments of these functions should be avoided under soil protection law (cf. §1 BBodSchG). Soils with cultural historical significance are documents of human soil cultivation and have archival character. Soils that are important for cultural history have been created, for example, by agricultural measures, which are no longer in use today. The methods for determining the protection of soils in Lower Saxony are detailed in Bug et al. (2019) described. The basis of the evaluations are the soil map of Lower Saxony 1: 50000 (BK 50) and the Digital Landscape Model (DLM25) from LGLN.
